Object data: Vmag=12.6:; Bmag=9.7 (in GSC); diam.=28" (27" in IDB); type
IV; central star of Vmag=17.9; discovered by Marth about 1850; no ELCAT
data.
RA/DE: 20h00.63m, +01°43.3' (2000.0)
Date and UT of observation: 05 July 1995, 00h15 UT
Location & latitude: La Clapiere Obs. (France, latN44 40 00, longE06 27 36)
Site classification: rural, alt.1650m (5500ft)
Limiting magnitude (visual with averted vision in UMi): 6.31 (30% of the time)
Transparency (1 to 5 - best to worst): 1
Seeing (1 to 5 - best to worst): 3
Moon up (phase?): no
Instrument: Coulter 445mm/17.5" F/4.5
Magnification: 45-145x
Filters used: UHC, OIII
Description: Just discernable at 45x without filter when already located at
higher power with at 145x, small PN, between very faint and faint, with a
crescent shaped brighter area on the E half; about 28" in diameter (based
on drawing), no central star; both OIII and UHC appears to give only a
slight contrast gain; mag13 star 12" to the WNW; mag14 stars 5"ESE and
12"WNW from the previous mag13 star.
I can provide a scanned drawing of NGC 6852 to anyone who can read the
binhex encoding of Eudora (for Mac); just mail me to try
(yann.pothier@fnac.net), it works quite often with other configurations...
